Katie is nine years old. She loves the colour green, Chinese food and ice cream! Katie likes watching Zoey 101, listening to music by her favourite singer – Reba, and dancing! When Katie grows up, she hopes to be a teacher or a nurse, because she “likes to help people and make them feel better.”
Katie’s wish was to take a family trip together when she was feeling better. And her wish came true as she and her family went to Walt Disney World® Resort in Orlando, Florida.
She was so excited to see the limo pull up to the house to take them to the airport. It made Katie feel “like someone important, like a movie star.” What a fun way to begin such a special wish.
The V.I.P. treatment continued aboard the flight to Florida. The WestJetters were so kind and gave Katie and her family a tour of the cockpit where they met the pilot.
And then there was Walt Disney World® Resort, Universal Studios and the Spiderman ride, the nighttime Winter Wonderland and the Mayor’s Birthday Party, the cotton candy and the birthday cake – yummy. Speaking of yummy, the food at Give Kids The World was amazing. Home cooked meals and even an ice cream parlour for treats all day long!
Every day Katie and her family came back to their villa, they found a surprise on the table like a game, a book or a movie. There was a beautiful heated pool close to their villa that seemed like it was their very own because it was new and no one knew about it. The resort made them all feel right at home and helped them with anything they needed.
Magic Kingdom’s highlight for Katie was the Buzz Lightyear ride. Everyone got their own laser gun that was really handy for shooting wild aliens.
SeaWorld and the spectacular whale show, Gator Land, where her brother was picked to wrestle a gator, airboat rides, wow, a lot of exciting memories to pack into one day.
As the trip came to an end, Katie and her family returned home, continuing to receive the special treatment that they enjoyed every minute of their trip. Katie’s dream had become a beautiful reality.
