Kaitlyn's Wish

A child’s wish is as unique as the child’s imagination. For Kaitlyn, her dream was to sing in a Make-A-Wish® public service advertisement.

Here is her story.

Kaitlyn’s wish day started in grand style as she and her parents were picked up at their hotel by a limousine, and whisked off to CTV (Southwestern Ontario)’s studio. A camera crew was with her from start to finish of her wish day, capturing each experience the day brought.

When she arrived at CTV, a blue director’s chair with her name on it greeted her in the make-up room, along with a few other surprises. She jumped into the chair with a big smile on her face, and was given a “goody bag” filled with her favourite treats.

The day kept on getting better as Kaitlyn got her hair and make-up done by professionals. She was very excited to have her hair curled, something she had always wanted to do! She also received a “swag bag” full of hair products, including lip gloss of her very own.

Next up – the limo transported the star to Fred Smith Studio, the recording studio where she got to record a jingle for the Make-A-Wish Foundation® under the professional direction of Fred Smith of Fred Smith Studio. The camera crew was in the recording studio, ready to capture her “live” performance as footage for her PSA. Kaitlyn was a natural and it didn’t take her long at all to get the jingle just right!

After the recording studio Kaitlyn went back to CTV, where she had poutine for lunch, one of her favourite foods. Kaitlyn got to hang out and watch the TV show “Wizards of Waverly Place” starring her favourite actress, Selena Gomez. Kaitlyn was also presented with a custom-made cake for her wish day, in the shape of a TV with her name on it.

In the afternoon, Kaitlyn was a guest host for a segment on the news with news anchor Kyle Christie. Then it was on to the television studio to film her very own Make-A-Wish PSA. Once the filming was finished, Kaitlyn had a “wrap party”, where she cut her cake and got to hang out with the crew.

Kaitlyn’s wish day ended with well-deserved star treatment, as the limo drove her family back to their hotel.

Thank you to CTV (Southwestern Ontario) for donating production and air time for Kaitlyn’s PSA, and to Fred Smith Studio for writing and producing a special jingle for Kaitlyn!
