Volunteering

Middlesex County (London and surrounding area)

Good news!  We have a full roster of volunteer support for events, wish granting and office roles in Middlesex County (London and surrounding area).

We currently require volunteers with skills and experience in fund development and connections to giving in the community, for the following roles only

Resource Development – Be a “connector” – bring an audience to us by connecting us with your contacts to approach for funding support.

These volunteers bring forward their ideas and contacts they have for such areas as: major gifts, planned giving, businesses or organizations to sponsor Chapter events or conduct their own fund raisers, and existing fundraising events we can connect with to become charity of choice.  These volunteers may work on event sponsorship, in event coordination leadership roles, develop prospect lists to approach, research sources for funding proposals such as Foundations, Grants, Scholarship Programs, or share their ideas with us via email.

Kids for Wish Kids® – Help children learn about compassion and empathy for others through a program that’s run by kids, for kids.

These volunteers help build school participation in this program at all levels – Elementary, Secondary, College and University.  They provide the program information to schools, follow-up with school contacts, volunteer within schools as needed - presenting about the program, answering questions, and volunteer at school Kids for Wish Kids® events if needed.  Volunteers with school contacts are beneficial, but not a requirement to assist in this area.

Fund Raising - Your donor support in coordinating a fund raiser to help raise funds for granting children's wishes is welcomed and appreciated!

Facebook - Please join our chapter's group on Facebook!

"Outreach" Counties (Brant, Bruce, Dufferin, Elgin, Essex, Grey, Haldimand-Norfolk, Huron, Kent, Lambton, Oxford, Perth, Waterloo and Wellington)

General Representative Volunteers are welcome in all these Counties to assist with community events happening in support of Make-A-Wish, speaking presentations, to promote Kids for Wish Kids program participation to schools in their area, and provide fundraising and resource development support.

Basic Requirements: All of our volunteers must complete a police records check and vulnerable sector screening, and attend volunteer orientation and training.

Wish Granting Teams - These volunteer teams are not currently needed in all Counties.  If you are interested in wish granting in your area please consult list posted below for the Counties where teams are currently needed, and contact our Volunteer Coordinator for the orientation process.

Wish-granting teams consist of one wish grantor and one wish companion who volunteer together, completing the steps involved in granting children's wishes.

Wish Granting roles require adult volunteers who have their own transportation. If you are younger and want to help, please see our Kids for Wish Kids program.

To help us raise funds and awareness for granting children’s wishes in your community, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator Roberta Derikx at (519) 471-4900 ext. 27 or roberta.derikx@makeawish.ca.
